Shopping in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur has a spectacular variety of shopping experiences. These days, prices on many items are the best in the region. While Singapore may be know for its huge number of shopping centers, prices in Kuala Lumpur are generally better, and the malls themselves are often an attraction in their own right.

The main shopping area is known as Bukit Bintang. In addtion, here's a brief list of the other interesting shopping centers that Kuala Lumpur has to offer:

Suria KLCC Shopping Centre

Located in the base of the Petronas twin towers, Suria KLCC offers something for everyone. The range of eating options is quite large, and if you're visiting around lunch time, go for one of the many restaurants facing the lush park and many lakes to one side of the towers.

Sunway Pyramid

An Egyptian-themed mall featuring an ice-skating rink, cineplex, bowing alley, archery range and tones of shops. Next door is the Sunway Lagoon water park and a resort hotel.

The Mines Shopping Fair

Part of the massive Mines Resort City, this mall features a canal running through its middle. You can board a water taxi for a tour of the lakes built into the former open-cast mines. Adjacent to the shopping mall is a large exposition center as well as the resort hotel.
