Maison Da La Bua Hotel

Maison Da La Bua is a relatively new hotel at the south end of Luang Prabang. Although located outside of the most desireable area of the historic old city, it is still within a reasonable walking distance of most of the sights. The hotel also has four bicycles for the free use of guests.

While small by most standards, at 15 rooms the Maison Da La Bua is as big as the building rules of Luang Prabang allows. The rooms are rather large, which is one of the benefits of being away from the center. The hotel has no pool, but one of the first things you notice on entering is a large pond. The ponds (there's another one off the walkway to the rooms) are apparently part of the city's water conservation efforts.

There is no full restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast is included in the room rates, but it must be ordered the night before from a list of five choices. Aside from breakfast, there is no other food service.

Rooms feature air conditioning, mini-bar, color television with a few international channels and hair dryer.

Pluses: Generous-sized rooms. Quiet area.

Minuses: The hotel is a bit far from the center of town, although still within walking distance. Note there is no restaurant.
