Most of Vientiane's sights are located within a small area not far from the river. You can easily see them on foot within a day. When you get hungry, there are a number of restaurants along the river west of the Presidential Palace and along Lane Xang Road, as well as in the streets around the Fountain Square (Nam Phou Place).
