Getting Around Cambodia

There is quite a range of options for getting around Cambodia, especially by road. However, the roads in Cambodia are among the worst in Southeast Asia, so while you can get just about anywhere using shared taxis, minivans or private cars, it isn't necessarily the most comfortable way to get around. Roads are under repair, so the situation is changing. Trains are another cheap option, although service can be quite infrequent and unreliable. As with the roads, plans are afoot to improve the system.

Boats can be an attractive option for those with the time. There are express boats running the length of Tonle Sap between Phnom Penh and Seam Reap, as well as between other major ports. The time boat trips take can vary with the season.

Airlines Serving Cambodia

The quickest way to get around is of course by air. There are two to three domestic airlines, depending on the economy and other factors. There is plenty of choice for service from Phnom Penh to Seam Reap, with other provincial centers served less frequently.

PMT Air
Cambodian airline with a small domestic and international network to neighboring countries.
Royal Khmer Airlines
Services both Phnom Penh and Seam Reap. International destinations include Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi.
