Back to pretty pictures today. This one is of a flower, which looks a lot like an hibiscus but clearly isn’t. In the background is the Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall, part of the Dusit Palace complex around Vimanmek Mansion.
This was my first visit to the mansion for a few years, and I was quite disappointed to find that many of the larger old residences had been closed, permanently. This includes the carriage museum and the find old residence that displayed memorabilia, such as gifts given to the king by many heads of state. Not only are the buildings closed, but they’ve been walled off so you can’t even see them. At least two structures were moved to other locations in the complex, but as for the rest there’s no indication that they well ever reopen.
